London 3 Day Debuts As Vibrant New Celebration of Track Cycling

Bringing Olympic & World Champions together for, you guessed it, Three Days of some of the best track cycling on one of the world’s most iconic tracks. The all new ‘London 3 Day’ Cycling event filled the arena at Lee Valley VeloPark In October with tens of thousands of fans, and also broadcast live on Cycling Weekly’s Youtube Channel.

The event brought together a world-class line-up, showcasing some of the best talents in track cycling and delivering a weekend of electrifying races full of speed, strategy and stamina. A chance for emerging talents to go head to head with seasoned professionals, and put it all on the track!

Among many thrilling victories over the weekend for cyclists included Elia Viviani and Simone Consonni. “The energy was incredible, and the support from the crowd was unbelievable,” said Viviani, who praised both the event’s organisation and the fans’ enthusiasm. A heartfelt touch came on the final day, where home favourite Alex Dowsett signed off his professional cycling career with an inspiring win in the Derny Race. As he powered to victory, Dowsett was cheered on by an enthusiastic crowd who celebrated his farewell ride with a standing ovation, creating a memorable moment that embodied the spirit of the London 3 Day. Chiara Consonni and Vittoria Guazzini claimed victory in the women’s event, thrilled by the unique opportunity to compete in the same format as the men’s race.

The seamless coordination, vibrant atmosphere, and roaring crowd set a new standard for the debut event. Organisers had thought of every detail – even down to the branded beer handed out with the outstanding trophies on the podiums. As their event will no doubt continue to grow, their mission extends beyond the track – “committed to promoting cycling as a sustainable mode of transport, a fun way to stay fit, and a path to connect with a diverse and vibrant community.”

Olympics Inspired Design

The design for the award was based on the famous The Lee Valley VeloPark, a beacon of British cycling and a legacy of the London 2012 Olympics. EFX created three different sized awards for each race, in 1st, 2nd & 3rd place. The first place and largest design at 440mm was made from 24ct gold plated solid aluminium with added bamboo track detailing and a digitally printed and waterjet cut L3 for the centre. The tiered base also had a black acrylic layer. The two smaller award designs made in nickel plated solid aluminium, bamboo and digitally printed.

The clients were ecstatic with their trophies, commenting on how fantastic they looked.

Plans for The London 3 Day 2025 are already underway, promising to be even bigger and better, pushing the boundaries of track racing events in the UK.
