EFX Award Travels to China via Portugal

The International Water Association has recently presented its Global Water Award 2014 to Dr. Qiu Baoxing, former Vice Minister of Housing and Urban-Rural Development of P. R. China. The award was designed and made by Special EFX in white acrylic, polished nickel plated aluminium and recycled gas and water pipes. It was digitally printed and then delivered to Lisbon, Portugal, where it was presented on 22nd September at the IWA World Water Congress & Exhibition 2014.

The award recognises outstanding achievement in innovative and sustainable water management, practice or science, in line with IWA’s vision of a world in which water is wisely managed to satisfy the needs of human activities and ecosystems in an equitable and sustainable way. The rapid industrialization and urbanization of China has placed huge pressure on its natural water supply, both in terms of supply and pollution. Dr Qiu Baoxing was chosen as the receiver of this award for the central and important role he has played in improving water quality and water environmental governance in China.
